Terms of Service

Reelism · reelism.music · Last updated: July 26, 2026

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the Reelism website, web application, mobile applications, and API (together, the "Service"), operated by Reelism [ENTITY NAME AND FORM TO BE CONFIRMED] ("Reelism," "we," "us"). By creating an account or using the Service you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

1. What the Service is — and is not

Verdicts are opinions, not facts. The Service produces probabilistic assessments — including scores, labels such as "Likely AI-generated," and the "REEL" / "NOT REEL" marks — generated by statistical models and automated analysis of audio signals and publicly available catalog information. A verdict is an automated opinion about likelihood. It is not a determination of fact, an accusation, or a statement that any person has engaged in deception or wrongdoing. Verdicts can be, and sometimes are, wrong.

You agree not to present any Reelism verdict as a statement of fact about a person or their work, and not to use verdicts to harass, defame, or publicly accuse any person. You are solely responsible for decisions you make based on a verdict.

2. Accounts

You must be at least 16 years old (or the age of digital consent where you live) to use the Service. You are responsible for your account credentials and for activity under your account. Provide accurate information and keep it current.

3. Your content and licenses

When you upload or submit audio for analysis, you represent and warrant that you have the legal right to do so. You retain all rights in your content. You grant Reelism a limited, non-exclusive license to process the audio to provide the Service, including creating and retaining derived technical data (such as acoustic fingerprints, extracted features, and analysis results) to operate, cache, evaluate, and improve the Service. We do not retain raw uploaded audio longer than needed for analysis, as described in the Privacy Policy.

4. Appeals

If you believe a verdict about your music is wrong, you may submit an appeal through the Service. A human will review every complete appeal in a reasonable time and may revise or annotate the verdict. Appeals are the exclusive process for disputing a verdict. By submitting an appeal you grant us permission to use the information you provide to review the verdict and improve our models.

5. Plans, billing, and refunds

6. Acceptable use

You agree not to: (a) use the Service to harass, defame, or target any person; (b) publish or republish verdicts in a way that presents them as fact; (c) access the Service by automated means beyond the documented API or attempt to scrape, bulk-query, or resell verdicts without our written consent; (d) reverse engineer or attempt to extract our models; (e) upload malicious content or content you lack rights to; or (f) use the Service to train a competing detection service.

7. Third-party services

The Service integrates third-party services (including Stripe for payments, Supabase for authentication and data, Spotify and other catalog APIs for metadata, and Meta platforms for optional integrations). Your use of those services is subject to their own terms. Catalog data shown in provenance results comes from third-party sources we do not control and may be incomplete or inaccurate.

8. Intellectual property

The Service, including the Reelism name, the REEL / NOT REEL marks, design, and software, is owned by Reelism or its licensors. These Terms grant no rights in our trademarks. "REEL" verdicts do not grant you a license to use Reelism marks in marketing without written permission.

9. Disclaimers

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE," WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING ACCURACY, MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WITHOUT LIMITING THE FOREGOING, WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT ANY VERDICT, SCORE, OR PROVENANCE RESULT IS ACCURATE, COMPLETE, OR RELIABLE.

10. Limitation of liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, REELISM WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, REVENUE, REPUTATION, OR DATA, ARISING FROM OR RELATED TO THE SERVICE OR ANY VERDICT. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ALL CLAIMS IN ANY 12-MONTH PERIOD WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF $50 OR THE AMOUNTS YOU PAID US IN THAT PERIOD.

11. Indemnification

You will indemnify and hold Reelism harmless from claims arising out of your content, your use of the Service in violation of these Terms, or your publication or characterization of any verdict.

12. Termination

You may close your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms. Sections 1, 3, and 8–14 survive termination.

13. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of [STATE/COUNTRY TO BE CONFIRMED], excluding conflict-of-law rules. Disputes will be resolved in the courts of [VENUE TO BE CONFIRMED], unless applicable law provides otherwise. [CONSIDER WITH COUNSEL: ARBITRATION / CLASS-WAIVER CLAUSE.]

14. Changes

We may update these Terms; material changes will be notified through the Service or by email. Continued use after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.
